Nashville Tribute Band’s Jason Deere wrote the song “Old Man” thinking about Father’s Day and the impact that his father, Monte Deere Sr., has had on his life. Jason’s father grew up in Amarillo, Texas under very challenging circumstances. A scholarship to play football at the University of Oklahoma in 1959 gave Monte the opportunity to “turn the tide” for his future family. After college Monte was a jet pilot and flight instructor where another pilot told him about his church. Monte joined the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in 1972 and has never looked back.
The choices that he has made through his life have had everything to do with the blessings and opportunities that his children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren enjoy today. Jason pays tribute to his “old man" as he sings “Understand, we’re all better for loving you Old Man."
Every member of the Nashville Tribute Band loves their father's and are forever grateful for the ways these men have made our lives better as we have loved them. Here's a Father's Day Tribute, "Old Man".
